Trackday 22nd November 2008, Taupo Racetrack

Myself, Matt Brookes and Marty had ridden to Taupo on our scooters, Shaneo and Daniel chose to transport their scoots on cars. The balance of motorcycles in our group were street racer bikes typically in the mid range 400-650cc range, with one Kawasaki 250 being our most suited competition for displacement size.

Most riders in our group were seeking improved riding skills and to be fair were generally quite cautious though the windy and twisty right hand side of the course.
As a rule our scooters were able to keep pace more than adequately with the big bikes through the tight sections, in particular Daniel and myself who were having our own duelling sessions throughout the day.

Daniel on his modern tuned auto was typically able to slingshot out onto the straights, the rare occassion I made to pass him on a bend, he hauled me in with relative ease, his horsepower advantage being more apparent as his confidence improved during the course of the day, but despite the obvious power advantage we remained intact with each other generally within 20-30 m throughout most sessions.

Sessions were typically 20 minuntes and we got 6 laps nearly 7 on some occassions. The opportunity to mix it up with motorcycles in a race environment does not come often, and MotoTT was, I believe as good, if not better than any KB track day.
