Spot prizes were offered and the organisers kindly acknowledged our participation on the day with a spot prize for the quickest scooter on the day. I gladly took the honours, but it was quite obvious Daniel had the faster scooter, as would be expected. But I will grab any accolade when I can get it, daresay it wont happen again in a hurry.
In a nut shell – after scrutineering was complete, (the scrutineers had no idea how to check our bikes), we assembled in the pre start and were waved onto the track in one second intervals with the scooters put on the track last.
After some speed restraint, the pace dictated by the pace bike to allow tyres to warm up, we opened up and went hard through the right hand side of the course commencing with a section of tight left and right handers generally in third gear revving out to about 80-90 kph and then some tighter corners bringing the pace down to 50-60 kph, but always enough in my case to keep me in 3rd with short intervals of 4th, before a left hander sweeping out to a wide open right hander which can be done in 4th at about 100 kph which with a tail wind straightened out for about 300m and speeds being reached of 115-125kph before the biggest left hand sweeper on the track.
