Like many of the tight corners the big bikes braked early and the scooters seem to brake later, many of our overtaking opportunities happened on the outside of the corners (we are not allowed to overtake on the inside) and it is an absolute thrill to overtake a big motorcycle on a race track.
I must have done it about 10 times on the day, and it was the big LH sweeper before the 800m straight where most overtaking could be done with confidence.
As we exited the sweeper with progressive power and tucked down for the home straight our little 2 strokes were pinned open for everything they had, about 150-200m down the straight the big bikes started overtaking us, in some cases astoundingly faster than our pace.
Into a mild head wind I had no speed left, I was happy with the speed being achieved and estimated about 130-135 kph, but the red runner was getting to top speed considerably quicker than I was, probably at about 200m down the straight and consistently got there quicker.
